Kumi-Awase means "interstices" or "overlapping" in Japanese and sounds very much like my name, Kumi. This blog is the intersecting interests of... me!!

K+K's Stairway Walk #6 (West Seattle)
Pigeon Point stairs in West Seattle We started at Longfellow Creek Legacy Trail where the big dragonfly structure is ( looks a bit like one of the Miyazaki movie characters) .Then, in the woods, there i...s a very interesting bridge called “Salmon-Bone Bridge”. The trail continues through the quiet. The stairs go up from there to the Pigeon Point neighborhood. After walking up 274 steps, you can enjoy a unique and kind of cute neighborhood with a view.
K+K's Stairway Walk #5 (Golden Gardens Beach)
Golden Gardens Beach Stairs. Park the car at 85th street and the stairs go down through the woods to the beach. These stairs somehow remind me of a Japanese shrine visit. It was a holy and sacred feeling.... After you go down the stairs you can enjoy the beach. It was a gorgeous, sunny day. I found a pink bench on a dune and sat a little while. It was a bit like a fantasy – a contemporary short story-like feeling. After the challenging 272 steps up to the top, we had some good coffee at CafĂ© Fiore, situated at the stairs’ starting point.

K+K's stairway walk #4 (Cedar Park/Lake Forest Park)
Cedar Park stairway in Lake Forest Park. We decided to go to stairways near beaches or lakes during September since fall is coming. This walk starts from a quiet residential area and it connects to the Burke-Gilman Trail. We didn’t have time to complete the trail part today, but we made it up-and down all 275 stairs!!

K +K's Seattle stairway city walk #3
. In our guidebook I found a couple of nice beach parks in Burien, and one became one of my favorite: Eagle Landing Park! The stairs to the beach are quite steep but there is ...a railing .The forest provided us a nice canopy and the view of the shore from the stairs was enjoyable. If you go on this walk, remember: after enjoying the beach you need to go back up the 289 steps to get back to the parking ! 388 steps completed (from 3,611 total steps)

K+K's Seattle stairway city walk #2.
We are discovering so many interesting places we have never been
(even though Ken grew up here).
Can you believe that we are in the middle of the city in these pictures?
We were in the upper Queen Anne!! (near Taylor Ave.)

K+K's Seattle Stairway Walk #1
Inspired by the book "Seattle Stairway Walks" (by J & C Jaramillo), Ken and I started our up-and-down city walk. The twenty-one walks around Seattle neighborhoods are introduced in the book with the chart of mileage and the number of steps. Day #1, we walked Solstice Park in Alki. Just 70 steps from our goal of 6,311 total (from the book).

No kids home???
My youngest is excitedly preparing his new (and first) apartment room.
It is within the city but…
I don’t know how long dose it take for me to get used to the life without kids home.....
